| A few words about Swedish Vallhund puppies in general: |
I see a wide range of temperaments in the
Vallhund pups that I raise everything from very
forward and outgoing to very shy and reserved.
If you are considering a puppy please ask us
about his/her temperament and we’ll do our best
to advise you.
Socialization is very important with any puppy but
particularly with Vallhunds. When your pup is
old enough to safely be out in public consider
taking him with you. Take them to fairs, festivals,
farmers markets, the park, etc. This will help
greatly with his socialization and you will get to
meet a lot of new people when they ask what
kind of dog you have.
Vallhunds are fairly heavy shedding dogs, so be
prepared to do some brushing. They will be
worse at certain times of the year, but can shed
some year round.
They are high energy dogs and need some
quality exercise on a regular basis. Also you will
need to watch their diet closely as they get older;
Vallhunds can get fat on a small amount of food.
Another thing I highly recommend is Obedience
classes. While not required or absolutely
necessary if it is at all possible for you to do this
it will make the entire dog experience better.
